He is obviously well-trained in various Asian sword styles, most prominently niten style, and so his preference is for blades that suit this discipline. Distinctive Attire: Doctor Lightsider wears specially-crafted glasses to protect him from his unique vision weakness -- the lenses of which often shift color, though they are usually of a deep blue or purple hue. Subject also often appears to wear a white doctor's coat, though this is in fact simply his wings, disguised. Special Abilities: Subject is the recipient of a powerful curse, as punishment for a crime committed some 500 years ago. Lightsider is effectively immortal; he shows no quantifiable signs of aging, and displays a highly accelerated healing process allowing him to survive all but the most fatal wounds. The subject also commands a powerful, seemingly arcane energy field which manifests itself as brilliant white light; he may shape this light into solid objects as he desires, concentrate it into a shield for defensive purposes, cast it into illusions which appear perfectly real and solid to the eye, and even use it to heal others around him. While Lightsider could presumably wield this light as a weapon of destructive power, circumstances surrounding the reason for his curse preclude such behavior, for the most part. Finally, Lightsider possesses a pair of "wings of light," brightly shining spiritual projections in the shape of long, birdlike wings which can carry him through the air, and serve as a focus for his light: when commanding his personal energy field at substantial levels, he must unfurl his wings in order to control it. The subject is able to disguise his wings, usually as a white doctor's coat, so as not to overly alarm those he comes into contact with. Weaknesses: A facet of the curse Doctor Lightsider suffers under prevents him from looking on the beauty of his fellows in all its forms; in practice, this seems to translate into a suspiciously shoujo manga-esque hyper-sensitivity to the sight of whatever he may consider to be cuteness. Attractive females, small children, even such seemingly innocuous objects as plush stuffed dolls all adversely effect the subject's cognitive stability, usually rendering him unconscious within seconds of gazing on the sight. Lightsider wears specially-crafted glasses of unspecified design which somehow dilute this effect to the point he is able to interact normally with the world and resist the adverse effects of cuteness upon his eyes. This curse also prohibits Lightsider from "doing harm," apparently a check against him ever inflicting injury upon another living thing. Additionally, Lightsider somehow seems to be almost unwillingly emotionally connected to Shadowdancer Duskstar, though the nature and depth of this preternatural attraction is a mystery even to him (made only more awkward by the fact that apparently, for whatever reason, Lightsider is able to look on Shadowdancer with his naked, unprotected eyes with no ill effects).
